CIBIL is the most popular and standard credit bureau operating in India. However, many other credit bureaus are present in India that calculate the credit score for every individual.
Four credit bureaus are operating in India authorized by the Reserve Bank of India(RBI).
Equifax: Equifax originated in 2010 as a credit rating agency in India. It provides credit reporting for individuals and corporates. Equifax has a credit score range between 1 and 900, where 1 is the worst and 900 is considered the best.
Experian: Experian originated in 2006; however, it started working as a fully licensed credit rating agency in 2010. It calculates credit scores for individuals and companies. The credit rating agency calculates credit scores every 20 days. The report processing in Experian is cheaper than other credit rating agencies in India. The credit score of Experian ranges between 300 and 900.
CRIF High Mark: CRIF originated in 2007 but started operating as full-service credit rating agency in 2010. It is the only credit bureau approved by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI). It is the highly considered credit rating agency used for MSMEs, individuals, and companies. The credit rating in CRIF ranges between 300 and 850. A credit score above 720 is considered good, whereas a score below 640 is poor.
